His team came in and professionally installed the whole system, replacing and sterilizing the ductwork, and cleaning up very well after all of the drywall work and repairs.

Do You Have an Older Thermostat? Consider an Upgrade!

Thermostats have few moving parts, and are thus designed to last for many years. If yours is still going after a decade or two, congratulations! As the saying goes, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. That longevity can have an Achilles heel, however. By going with the same thermostat for so long, you may be missing out on some of the wonderful technological advances that modern thermostats enjoy. You might want to consider upgrading your thermostat this spring, to help you better cope with the onslaught of our Central Florida summers. (And if you still use an old mercury thermostat, you should replace it immediately: mercury isn’t safe to have in your home.) Here’s a brief list of popular features in modern thermostats, to give you some idea of what we mean.

Smart Thermostats

Modern thermostats make use of smart programming as a way of helping you keep your home cool more readily and saving some money in the process. The thermostat analyzes your cooling habits and makes little adjustments here and there to attain the optimal temperature more readily. Your system thus doesn’t have to run as long and won’t cost as much in monthly bills.  Furthermore, smart thermostats can analyze existing conditions outside your home and make adjustments for factors such as high humidity and wind chill. That helps your system run more smoothly and eases the strain on individual components.

Remote Control

By “remote control,” we don’t just mean activating your thermostat from across the room. By connecting to your home’s WiFi, the thermostat can be programmed from anywhere in the world with an app on your phone. That means setting start and stop times, adjusting the specific temperature: everything you would normally do if you were within arm’s length of the system.
